Bexxar

Bexxar

Bexxar

Generic Name: Tositumomab (tos-IT-too-moe-mab)

Bexxar may cause serious allergic reactions, especially in patients who have received murine proteins previously. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. Bexxar may cause serious (possibly life-threatening) reductions in the number of white blood cells and platelets your body produces. This effect may last for an extended length of time. Additional treatment may be needed to manage this effect. Serious infections or bleeding could occur as a result of low blood cell levels. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience fever, persistent sore throat, any other sign of infection, or unusual bruising or bleeding. Bexxar must not be used during pregnancy because fetal harm can result. Contact your doctor immediately if you suspect that you could be pregnant.

How Wall Street Reform Can Hurt Those Getting Braces, Expensive Dental Work

Dental News

The financial regulation reform bill proposed by the Obama administration includes some hurtful provisions for dental providers and their patients according to Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), an outspoken opponent of the President.

According to Senator DeMint, the current bill will force dental providers that allow customers to make payments in more than four installments or who charge any type of late fees to be treated the same terms as AIG and Goldman Sachs. This will have the greatest impact on those receiving expensive dental procedures such as braces, dentures and other types of cosmetic-related dentistry.

Halloween Is No Holiday For Teeth

We all know is that sugar is the enemy of your teeth because it eats away at the protective coating (called enamel) that surrounds the tooth. The more sugar you have in your mouth, the more your enamel is eaten away.

This is especially true on and after Halloween when our kids are overdosing on candy as well as other kind of sweets. Still, if your kids are going to eat lots of candy there is still some advice they can take to minimize the damage they will do to;

"Don't keep grazing (for sugar) during the day," suggests Caron Nelson, a dentist in Duvall, Wash. "If you are going to eat sugar, get it done quickly. Don't eat something that will sit in your mouth for a long time."

Milk: It Does A Tooth Good

Your mother may have told you some white lies, including that breaking a mirror is seven years bad luck or that if you keep picking your nose it would get stuck that way, but one thing that she did get right is that drinking milk will probably help your teeth out.

Studies have found that drinking milk and eating cheeses, especially cheddars, with or after a meal can help increase the pH level of your mouth (for us non-scientists out there, this means that it will lower the acidity level) thereby limiting the damage that certain foods can do to your enamel.

To avoid having to purchase the best dental coverage available just so you can afford to fix your kid's teeth later in life, make sure to include a little milk and cheese with their meals, particularly with acidic meals such as pastas with red sauce, to help protect them from cavities.
