The condition of dizziness and nausea can be regarded as a common one among people of all ages. Dizziness is not a single condition though. This condition is a common cause of dizziness and nausea in the morning, when the person gets up from his sleep. Some disease that might cause the inner ear to suffer inflammation, and a condition wherein the vestibular nerve has a noncancerous (benign) growth on it (known as acoustic neuroma) may also be its causes. Meniere's disease, and migraine may also be some of the offenders. In rare cases, vertigo is a result of a stroke, multiple sclerosis, double vision, slurred speech, balancing problems, etc.


One of the common causes of dizziness and nausea after eating could be hypotension. This could be accompanied by what is known as the feeling of faintness. Clinically, it is known as presyncope. The same can be caused by certain heart diseases which may hamper the supply of blood from the heart. These disease could be arrhythmia, cardiomyopathy, etc.


The loss of balance or also known as disequilibrium, could be a result of inner ear disorders, diseases of muscles or joints, certain nervous disorders, and problems with the sensory nerves. Medications like sedatives, tranquilizers, etc., may also cause loss of balance as one of their side effects on the body.


Causes of dizziness and nausea during pregnancy are nothing but the cumulative effort of all the hormonal changes that go in the body of the expecting mother. Pregnancy may cause a drop in blood pressure, or dilation of the blood vessels. Even these changes may cause the same condition.


Treatment for Dizziness and Nausea


The symptoms and causes of the condition, influence the nature of the treatment that an individual should receive. For instance, if the cause has been diagnosed to be inner ear conditions, then patients are recommended to follow certain balance retraining exercises, or take some medications which might relieve the symptoms. Likewise, for other conditions like migraines, Meniere's disease or anxiety disorders, specific treatment plans are put into practice.
